Hon. Dr. James Bede Bujung was born on January 17, 1950 in Bambili Northwest Province ofCameroon and passed away on February 22, 2011 in Maryland, USA.
He attended St. Bedes Secondary school, Asing Kom. Thereafter, JB went to CCAST Bambili After completing high school education at CCAST Bambili. He worked briefly at the Preventive Medicine in Bamenda, Northwest province of Cameroon. He left Cameroon to further his higher education in the United States. While in the USA he was enrolled at the US Air force. He worked there for several years
He later attended Kansas State University where he obtained both his Bachelors and Masters degrees. He obtained his Ph.D. from Troy State University, Alabama where he studied Criminal Justice. JB was a businessman. He owned both a Cab and Limousine Service. He also owned a tropical Food market inAtlanta, GA where most Africans especially Cameroonians shopped.
He met his beautiful wife Ruth Bujung in 1996 and they later got married in 1997.They have two beautiful girls. JB was a fond guy, open handed, generous and a loving husband and father to his children.
After a successful 33 years in the USA where most was spent in Atlanta, GA, in the summer of 2006 JB and family moved to Cameroon. While in Cameroon for just one year he ran for MP in the Cameroon National Assembly for the Tubah and Bafut district of Mezam division.. He eventually won his first publicly held office in Cameroon after 33 years in the USA. He brought western style of parliamentary rules and procedures at the National Assembly representing the SDF party that brought democracy in Cameroon in 1990. His fellow law makers were fond of him because of his ingenuity and brightness.
JB, as he was popularly known, had a very strong leadership and commitment to his community. He showed strong commitment to the SDF party from USA to Cameroon. He helped found the SDF wing in the USA in the early 1990s.he was the first chairperson of SDF for North America for 9 years. He supported SDF party financially over the years without relenting. He died as an SDF cabinet shadow Minister of Foreign Affairs.
JB’s love and compassion to his fellow mankind especially family and friends was very remarkable. His loss will be greatly missed by many. We cannot question the Almighty God’s will. However, we know it was at God’s chosen time. May your soul rest in peace.
